Fantasy Friday: Quest - Chapter Thirteen

Twelve Shadoaresses filed out of the temple at the midpoint, six coming from each side. They met in the middle and proceeded down the steps, two by two.  

The first ten each held a basket in each hand, each basket full of fire stones havested from The Pit; they would burn twice as long and twice as hot as the same stones found anywhere else on Isiterra. The last two Shadoaresses each carried a rake. 

Blue Light

When comes the blue light hour,

and the lightning bugs take flight,

the air radiates an enchanted power,

holding promise for the night.

The bats begin to stretch their wings,

in the distance, the nightingale sings,

Owls ask "who?" of all the wondrous things

a silvery, moonlight-drenched night brings.

Hummingbirds and bees buzz off to bed,

as a breeze dances with the moonflower,

they know stars will soon sparkle overhead,

When comes the blue light hour.

Good evening, dear Reader! I hope this poem finds you well. Just a few lines about one of my favorite times of day. I wrote this one last year, and I thought I shared it here.... Well, it's here now. 

Though you wouldn't know it, due to lack of updates here, I've been at work writing those pesky chapters I keep putting off on Quest. I'm almost ready to start posting chapters here again - hopefully to resume on Fridays in March. I'm also working on something, which I hope to have finished in the next two weeks - but I'm saving the details for when it's ready 😉

2021 Reflections

Greetings, Dear Reader! Here we are again... at long last. Believe it, or not, I started 2021 with "The Plan" - a set of writing goals, broken down by month, geared toward finishing a handful of projects I've juggled for way too long, and, maybe, having something new published by now. Well, let's just say 2021 didn't go exactly as I planned....

The second round of horns sounded. Taura still saw no sign of her sister. "I expected her to be back before now. I hope she didn't go out too far."

"Na ahana, Taura. She'll be here." Ziliena reassured her. "She's fine."

"I'd like to think I would know if she weren't."
